Twilight? Pah, It’s time for a proper Vampire movie!

I normally leave all things film related to Louis Sherman, but today I’m going to step into his territory just a bit to share with you a film trailer. Vampires are very popular at the moment, what with The Vampire Diaries and Twilight being hugely popular. However, I feel these interpretations have reduced the Vampire legend to a soppy, teenage love story. Luckily, the Vampire has now had a makeover by the Gothic master himself, Tim Burton, and I’m looking forward to seeing what looks like a humourous new film, starring Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and my favourite Gothic actress, Helena Bonham Carter.

Barnabus Collins, the vampire and protagonist played by Johnny Depp, has returned to his ancestral home to find 1972 is  quite different to the 1700s…

I’ll be looking forward to seeing this film when it comes out on 11th May 🙂

5 Things to look forward to in 2012

1. London 2012!

Wenlock & Mandeville: If you don't know who these two are you will after the Olympics!

As you all know, the Olympics are coming to London! It will open on July 27th and close on August 12th, and will be followed by the Paralympics. Less excited members of our nation can look forward to constant media coverage of the event. Also, did you know that London will become the first city to host the Olympics three times? No, I didn’t either.

2.  The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

Queen Liz will celebrate 60 years of rule with a multitude of events including a flotilla of 1,000 boats sailing down the Thames on 3rd June and a concert organised by Gary Barlow, of X Factor judging fame. Also, there will be a four-day weekend! Goad Save the Queen!

3. New Films

Twilight crazies and Lord of the Rings nuts will be looking forward to the release of the final film in the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, and the release of The Hobbit. Non-fans should be wary of devastated screaming teenage girls and long queues of nerds.

4. I’m going to uni!

Ok, so I might be running out of things here but I’m looking forward to going to uni, if I get a place, the grades etc.

5. THE END OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!

Right, I know many people may not be looking forward to the predicted forthcoming Apocalypse, but if it’s anything like the film, just keep running and the lava won’t hurt you!

To be fair, 2012 can only be better than 2011, can’t it?

The Twilight Show (*a.k.a 2011 MTV Movie Awards)

Justin Timberlake & Mila Kunis quash rumours that they are dating...

Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards were so predictable, with Twilight winning FIVE of the twelve awards, it took some extra-outrageous acts to surprise the audience, including a Timberlake/Kunis groping session and a Pattinson/Lautner snog (now that’s going to further confuse many 12 year old girls….)

The award show was presented by Jason Sudeikis from Saturday Night Live, who tried to insult celebrities Ricky Gervais-style, whish seemed to be mostly aimed at Selena Gomez, of dating Justin Bieber fame.

Though many Twilight fans were no doubt delighted, I thought It was a shame that the vampire franchise dominated the awards yet again, with so many other worthy nominations, such as Natalie Portman’s performance in Black Swan. One person who may also have liked Robert Pattinson to win less awards could have been Taylor Lautner, who was beaten twice by his co-star (that’s when you know someone’s better than you, right?)

However, there were no hard feelings (well, possibly….) between the pair after Robert Pattinson chose the slightly bewildered Taylor Lautner to snog after winning Best Kiss with Kristen Stewart. I haven’t found a picture to include of this (mainly because I haven’t actually looked for one) but I’m sure the die-hard Twilight fans will have already seen it.
